Welcome to SW Music
Hi, I’m Season!
I am a classically trained pianist who has helped hundreds of kids discover their passion and love for music.
My #1 goal for my students is for them to grow into confident individuals who are able to accomplish anything they set their minds to.
I encourage…
Curiosity
Creativity
Compassion
Connection
I instill…
Accountability
Benevolence
Confidence
Discipline
Excellence
Focus
Generosity
When I first started teaching, I taught the way my teachers taught me.
I learnt all the notes on the page, practiced the pieces over and over again, and then memorized the songs.
I went through all the levels this way.
But…
I couldn’t play anything if I didn’t have the sheet music in front of me.
I couldn’t improvise - couldn't play any songs that my friends requested.
If I didn’t practice in advance, I wasn’t sure if I could play without making mistakes.
I strived for so much perfection that I was scared of playing a wrong note.
I was embarrassed when I couldn’t play any songs that I wasn’t actively working on.
That wasn’t the worst part.
During music lessons in university, I realized that my aural training was very poor compared to my peers.
Why was my music education so lacking?
Even though I spent 10 years of my life studying “music”, it seemed that I was still missing a lot of information.
I was far from being a well-rounded musician.
It was demoralizing.
So, I set out to fix that.
I spent many years designing the perfect curriculum so that my students will not have the same struggles that I did.
What I do at SW Music is to equip my students with everything in the toolbox.
My students play with confidence, have solid technique, understand all the inner workings of their pieces, and get excellent exam results.
They can impress friends and family with highly advanced Chopin pieces and bust out popular show tunes right after.
They are able to do everything that I couldn’t do before.
They are well-rounded musicians.
My job is to guide them to be better versions of themselves.
To discover their full potential…
And to be completely confident in themselves while they do so.
So welcome! I’m glad you’re here with me on this journey to see what shenanigans my students and I get up to.
